Shed Foundation Guide

Shed foundation preparation is the most important step before delivery day. Get your base right and your building will sit level, drain properly, and hold up through years of western Pennsylvania freeze-thaw cycles.

At Mast Mini Barns, we recommend a hard, level surface of 4 to 6 inches of packed limestone or compacted gravel. This provides solid support for the 4x4 treated runners underneath the building, promotes drainage, and resists settling over time. Setting a building on soft grass or uncompacted soil will void the warranty. A proper base is essential for the longevity of your building.

A concrete slab is also an acceptable foundation, provided it is fully level and cured. Concrete works well for garages and larger structures where a permanent installation makes sense. If you need engineered drawings for permit purposes in Mercer County or surrounding municipalities, we can supply those at no charge. Just ask.

We do not provide site preparation services directly, but we maintain referrals to trusted contacts throughout Mercer County who can prepare your pad. Getting it done before your delivery appointment is the single most impactful step you can take. Delays caused by an unprepared site are avoidable.

On delivery day, our driver brings minor blocking materials for small adjustments. Elevating the building on permanent posts or blocks is not recommended - it creates an unstable floor and voids the warranty. A solid, level pad is all you need. CONTACT US with any questions about site prep, or CALL US and we will walk you through what is needed for your specific property.
