The Cottage Workshop
The Cottage Workshop is our most popular starting point for cabin and studio shed construction. It’s a Premium Series building with a 5/12 roof pitch, 6’6” walls, and a clean gable-end profile that looks at home on a residential property without drawing attention to itself.
Standard painted features include:
- 6’6” walls with a 5/12 roof pitch
- One 6-foot tall double door, available in eave or gable placement
- Two 21x27 windows with screens and shutters (one window on 8x8 and 8x10 models)
- Your choice of stocked paint colors and shingle colors
Standard vinyl features swap the painted wood doors for 6-foot fiberglass slab doors and offer the full range of stocked vinyl siding and trim colors.
Sizes run from 8x8 up to 12x24. LP SmartSide painted pricing starts at $3,364 for an 8x8 and reaches $6,739 for a 12x24.
The Cottage Workshop is also available as a Deluxe Package adding deluxe doors with transom windows, 6-inch overhangs with 6-inch fascia, window trim, corner trim, and half-round vents for 10% added to the base price.
Making It a Real Space
A cabin or studio shed shell from Mast Mini-Barns is the starting point. Finishing the interior for year-round use requires insulation, interior wall finishes, lighting, heating, and possibly electrical work all of which are typically handled by the customer or a local contractor after delivery.
For a Mercer County winter, we generally recommend at least 2 inches of spray foam insulation in the floor system (available as an add-on at $4.25 per square foot) and a proper wall and ceiling insulation package. A mini-split heat pump is a popular choice for climate control in structures this size-efficient, compact, and reversible for both heating and cooling.
Windows can be upgraded to insulated single-hung or insulated slider units if thermal performance is a priority. We offer those options at the time of order.
Other Models Worth Considering
Depending on your intended use, other models in our Premium Series lineup may be a better fit than the Cottage Workshop. The Chalet adds a 6-foot dormer and an 8/12 roof pitch that creates significant loft volume overhead. The Cape Cod offers a 7/12 pitch and 7-foot walls with a more traditional residential silhouette. The Klassic Studio is the right choice for dedicated office or workspace use.
