Shed Building Permit Assistance - Mercer County & Surrounding Areas
Permit requirements for sheds, garages, and outdoor buildings vary significantly from one Township or Borough to the next. Some municipalities have a size threshold below which no permit is required. We recommend checking with your local authority before ordering, and we're here to help you through that process.
Our Klassic Studio is the building we most often recommend for this purpose. It's purpose-built for use as a workspace, and its standard feature set reflects that.
Engineered drawings are available from Mast Mini-Barns at no charge when your Township or Borough requires them. These are stamped drawings that document the structural specifications of your building, the framing, the load ratings, the materials, to the satisfaction of most municipal review processes. If your municipality requires drawings, let us know when you place your order and we’ll have them prepared.
Snow load specifications: If your municipality requires construction to a 60- or 70-pound snow load spec, we can build to that standard. This is an upgrade from our standard spec and is priced accordingly: 5% added to the base price for 60-pound spec, 8% for 70-pound spec.
Setback and placement guidance: We can’t tell you what your specific setback requirements are, because that varies by municipality and by zoning district. But we can help you think through placement and flag questions you should ask your local authority before ordering. A building that’s placed too close to a property line can become a compliance problem, and moving a placed structure is an avoidable expense.
What We Cannot Do
We are not a permitting service and we don’t file permit applications on your behalf. Our role is to supply the documentation your municipality needs primarily engineered drawings and to make sure the building we deliver meets the specifications those documents describe. The permit application itself is your responsibility, and we recommend filing it before your delivery is scheduled.
Our Recommendation
Check with your local Township or Borough before you order. This is our consistent advice to every customer, and it’s in the FAQ section of our catalog for good reason. A quick call to your municipal office or a visit to their website will tell you whether a permit is required, what the setback rules are, and whether engineered drawings are needed.
